Derek's 8th Birthday Party

Another year another party!
This year for my son’s 8th birthday the theme was Plants Vs. Zombies in lieu of the new Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare game hitting the stores in 2014. Here are some of the party details.
Invitations were bought from Etsy (Danni’s Cute Creations) https://www.etsy.com/listing/191390484/plants-vs-zombies-birthday-party. I saw the invitation but wanted a few changes to the one listed on their website and they were able to design it exactly how I wanted address, city, state, zip, & phone numbers left out for privacy reasons.

Invitations were of a good quality and came with envelopes. I created some address & mailing labels and also had a sticker on the back of the envelope to go along with the theme, images from yahoo images.

Half the battle was choosing decorations to set the mood of this party. Here is a list of decorations resources. I decided on this printable package from Etsy (Pinwheels and PomPoms) https://www.etsy.com/listing/190829658/pvz-party-printable-discount-set?ref=shop_home_active_20 mainly because it had a lot of cute printables that could be used throughout the party. The birthday banner was purchased from Etsy (PreciousCelebration) https://www.etsy.com/listing/201813609/plants-vs-zombies-birthday-banner-plants?ref=shop_home_active_17
I purchased a customized sign from Etsy (HauteTopicDesigns)
https://www.etsy.com/listing/201675517/plants-vs-zombies-sign this sign had my sons name and his age he was turning. I also made a lot of the decorations myself. I have included some pictures from the party to get an idea how it all came to life.

I decided that Chik fil a would be the food of choice including chicken salad sandwiches, nuggets, and a garden salad all catered to the house. The sweets were definitely more interesting as usual we had a custom made cake from the same local women that did last year’s Ghostbuster Cake - Sandra’s Cakes, Port St. Lucie, FL you can see her work on her blog www.sandrascakes.blogspot.com or she has an account on Facebook. I merged two cakes I saw on Pinterest and gave her a few ideas I wanted to incorporate and again she worked her magic and created a beautiful cake. I also, found a local women to create some cake pops Pinterest inspired as well - Mama Cakes, Port St. Lucie, FL you can see her work on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/jennhasacupcake  She was a pleasure to work with and her cake pops were delicious, they were red velvet on the inside:)

Goody bags included hand sanitizer bought from Walmart with a customized sticker purchased from Etsy (PreciousCelebration) https://www.etsy.com/listing/201778876/plants-vs-zombies-instant-download-1-oz?ref=shop_home_active_3&ga_search_query=PLANTS , Zombie lollipops purchased from Etsy (ThePartyDaddy) https://www.etsy.com/listing/201053414/8-plants-vs-zombies-birthday-party-favor, Build a zombie purchased from Etsy (PreciousCelebration) https://www.etsy.com/listing/196005166/make-your-own-zombie-plants-vs-zombies?ref=shop_home_active_2&ga_search_query=plants , Homemade Eyeball Slime made from instructions from you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlYEZpj93f8 all included in a cellophane bag, homemade tags, and ribbon.
